Making a brass knob for a gas fireplace. The original knob was lost.
The machine toolpaths are not very fast or efficient. This was a one-off piece, so it was better to just make the part using the code I had, rather than spend more time tweaking the code in order to save a few minutes of machine time.
If I were doing a production run, it would definitely be worth spending time to make the toolpath code more efficient.
Off camera, the knob was cross drilled and tapped to accept a set screw, which holds the knob onto the shaft.
