Machining Race Car Parts on a Haas CNC Toolroom Mill in a Home Garage Shop

In 2020 Sam Johnson established Samco Manufacturing in his home garage, to design and manufacture parts for the motorsports industry. Prior to starting his own garage shop, Johnson worked as an apprentice at Competition Suspension, then as the lead engineer at Don Schumacher Motorsports.

In this Haas INSIDER video, Sam Johnson shares his inspiring story about investing in himself to do what he loves, designing and machining parts for race cars. At the heart of Samco Manufacturing is a Haas TM-2P CNC toolroom mill loaded with features like wireless intuitive probing, a programmable coolant nozzle, and an automatic chip auger. During our visit, Johnson’s Haas TM-2P was machining critical parts for next-generation NASCAR pump jacks. Today, Johnson has expanded his company’s operations to a nearby commercial facility where he’s spreading his wings with the addition of a Haas CNC lathe to machine parts for NHRA dragsters and funnycars.
